Android 4.2.2 Official Update Delayed for Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2

Steven Blum

If you're an S3 or Note 2 user, you're not going to like this. According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 might not be receiving the official update to Android 4.2.2 as quickly as many had hoped. The update is being delayed as Samsung works on "Touchwiz" adjustments to the build.

The update brings a number of beloved features to the phones, including Photo Sphere (which allows a user to create a "Street View" - esque, 360-degree immersive photo) as well as the option to add widgets to the lockscreen, smart notifications, quick settings and more.

But what's even more exciting to Samsung fans is the fact that the update is rumored to bring a number of Galaxy S4 features to the Galaxy S3, including intelligent rotation, updated S-Voice, and Adapt Display.

While this is certainly an "ugh" moment for the folks waiting for an official build, there are plenty of stable, unofficial updates floating around online. Check out this article for more information on how to get Android 4.2.2 on your Galaxy S3. Sadly, that update ships without the Galaxy S4 extras.

Well, it makes sense. As long as they're tweaking the update to ensure a proper roll-out and functionality with the devices. There is nothing worse than having a rushed update that causes hardware to become sluggish or that is riddled with bugs.
