The Android market is getting so full of awesome games that I honestly don't have time to play through one game before starting on another. 2011 was a great year for gaming, as we saw big titles such as GTA3 and Deep Space getting released. With so many great paid titles being released, it's really encouraging to see such a huge and growing selection of free games on the Android Market, and these are the top free games that I find myself playing the most (in no particular order):
With well over 1 million downloads on the Android market, this is definetly one of my favorite free games. The game basically puts you on an outside basketball court and gives you a time limit for making a certain amount of shots, certain types of shots (ground bounce, missle, prayers, ect), and scoring a certain amount of points on combos. After accomplishing this, you move to a new level and are faced with new challenge. You can spend real money in game to upgrade your equipment if you want, but you aren't forced too (a dollar or 2 will get you millions of in game money). The levels on the game seem to go on and on, and if you're looking for a nice time killer with good graphics, controls, and gameplay, then Tip-Off is one of the best.
I'm just gonna come out and say it...for me personally, this game has the same addictive properties as crack, and although I haven't ever tried crack, I would imagine that it's addictiveness can't be more than this awesome title. Once I started playing it, I literally could NOT stop. The golf game has over 33 courses and 290 holes, and takes place in a cleverly implemented 2d environment that will really force you to use your head. Some of the holes are really easy, and some are so hard that I found myself literally cursing my tablet on some of the insanely hard holes. Don't expect to finish this one anytime soon! You can naturally purchase powerups and special golf balls with real money if you wish, but you can also win in game money to purchase these products (they can also be unlocked by completing certain tasks on specific holes. So far, I haven't spent a penny on this game and have completed 70% of the courses). This is currently my favorite free game on the market, and is not only challenging, but extremely fun. If you want to avoid pissing off your girlfriend, don't download this game. You have been warned.
I STILL can't believe this amazing game is free on the market! If you are a fan of RPG games and nice HD graphics, stop what you're doing and download this NOW. Me being the Final Fantasy fanboy that I am, I couldn't resist to put this awesome title on the list. Awesome story, great graphics, and dynamic RPG based combat that can keep you occupied for hours and hours. This game was just recently released and won't stay free forever, so get it while it's hot!
If you like FPS games on your phone or tablet, this is simply one of the best free titles available. The game has not only an engaging story, great replay value, and solid graphics, but enough action to keep you coming back for more. Multiplayer is also extremely fun and free for all, with options to connect locally with bluetooth or via Wifi. The game use to be a paid app, and has recently been made free, so if you don't have it yet you know what to do!
Sometimes I really get in the mood for a good old fashioned city building game, and as there are a lot of free ones on the market that pretty much force you to pay in game to have any chance of purchasing upgrades, Miracle City doesnt, and lets you and your friends run a city together. It might seem like a kids game at first, but don't let it fool you. As you progress in the game, maintaining your city and visiting cities of your friends to help out becomes extremely challenging. One of the best free city builders on Android.
There you have it! I know that what games you like and dislike comes down to personal preference, but as far as free games go, these are 5 you should defintely check out.
Happy Gaming, and let me know what your personal top 5 favorite free games are in the comments or in the forums!
