Loie Favre

There’s a type of apps which are especially suited to tablets: floating applications. These are used like the windows on your PC desktop which you can use all while multitasking with other apps. Last week we talked about ways to transform your tablet and today we will share five of the best floating apps.

Floating YouTube

This app comes in first because of the huge success of YouTube videos, a service that many also use to listen to playlists. Thanks to the floating app, you listen to music via the YouTube, all while using another app. The application provides direct access to playlists. You can adjust the size of the screen though if you switch to fullscreen the video is reloaded. The app also includes a share function.

Floating Audio Player

This app allows you to play music on your device while performing other tasks. To install, you need to have Android Ice Cream Sandwich or later running on your tablet. It comes with typical music player functions and supports most formats. I found it to be very easy to use.

Floating Toucher

This app differs from creating folders on your home screen to store various data. Here you have access to a round floating button in the form of a widget that with nine different options, five of which can be customized to our liking. You can choose applications as well as various phone functions. I’m certain that these nine customizable options can summarize most of the activities you do the most on your tablet. Using this button will maximize functionality while minimizing effort, the ultimate objective of floating applications.

This application lets you chat with your contacts as you perform other tasks. Most chat services for tablet require full screen mode, which is why LilyPad becomes a very appealing option. This app lets you chat with Google Hangouts, Windows Messenger or Facebook all in a comfortable floating window.
