Design Concept of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie

Sterling Keys

A crafty design student has come up with a concept on what he hopes that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will look like. While the OS is still most definitely still in the works (Hey! We're still waiting for Android 4.3 to be announced) it's always interesting to check out what some people think that the next iteration should look like.

Showcasing a subtle design and a redesigned Google Search Widget, it's definitely one of the more "clean" designs that we've seen come to light over the last little while.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the concept of the music widget being hidden on the top and being able to swipe down to access it/cause other active widgets to get tucked to the side. And Google Now available from the lock screen? YES PLEASE! And while Android 5.0 is still a giant pipe dream and we've already started to compile a list of what we'd like to see, it's nice to see some industrious people actually put a design behind what they think should be in it.

What are some things on your wish-list for Android 5.0?

Not a fan at all sorry,

The transparent everything is the first thing i noticed in apples latest images, i just think its messy and ruins the contrast between the elements, for instance the soft keys look so weak in these renders, get the wrong color under color mix and suddenly you have an ugly blend of ui going on, its especially annoying on the notification bar, thats needs to be solid and easy to read at a glance.

the google bar down there is just asking for accidental clicks bringing up the "speak to search" prompt anyone with a samsung device will know how annoying the double tap home to bring that up is.

the clock, its ok, but it does give the impression of two things going on, ie the solid line is some sort of count down or timer perhaps

Just interested in the dislike of Google Now being on the lock screen? Personally, I'd find it easier to have this information available with just a glance at the lock screen rather than unlocking and finding out the same information. What are your thoughts?

If Apple can finally come to the conclusion that they needed to borrow from Android in order to create IOS 7? Then Google needs to 1st accept that as a compliment? Then raise the bar even further (I'd rather wait until the end of 2013 and be "very impressed" vs available tomorrow and feeling "meh") ...
