Features & Use
With eBuddy Messenger you can do the following:
- Add existing IM accounts: MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, Gtalk, ICQ and Facebook
- Display all your buddies in one list
- Add new buddies to your IM account
- Set a status message (although I couldn't figure out how other people could see it)
eBuddy Messenger has got all it takes for easy and user-friendly chatting. The only thing that is missing from the list of supported IM accounts is Skype. Why include Facebook but not Skype?
You can easily switch between multiple chats by simply sliding your finger across the screen. Now that's a huge time saver. As usual, the app comes with a good selection of emoticons. Your list can be ordered by name, group or account type.
eBuddy notifies you about new messages with vibration and/or audio tone depending on your preference.
If Skype was included in the list of supported IM services, I could rate this app with 5 stars. But since it doesn't I'm going to have to go with 4 stars instead.
Screen & Controls
The screen is very well laid out. With just three tabs, it's easy to find everything with just one tap. Without having to use too much of your brain you can figure out how the app works in a flash. If you happen to lose your internet connection, for example, just longtap the IM account and you'll get automatically reconnected. It may not sound like much, but it's nice to have an app that works smoothly. The chat window looks pretty good and reminds me of Apple's iChat. All in all – eBuddy Messenger is a decent piece of work!
Speed & Stability
eBuddy Messenger runs very smoothly. You can keep the app running for hours on end and it never crashes or freezes. That's extremely important for a IM multimessenger such as eBuddy.
