Sirius XM's Android App Available

by Douglas Carter on May 28, 2010 8:22:18 PM — read 3,144 times

I covered the news that Sirius XM was developing an Android app a month ago, and it is finally ready for download here as an APK. The app is free to download from from Sirius here and you can try it free for 7 days. There are multiple choices for subscription services listed here under the Subscriptions Options button.

AndroidCentral notes that the app:

is easy to use and hangs out in your notification tray, so you can access it easily while you're off doing other things. About our only complaint is that it doesn't work in landscape mode, and the app itself is named "Online," which makes it tricky to find in your app drawer at first.

Strangely, the developers have a specific list of phones that will work with the app, instead of doing it by Android OS release. Here is the list from Phandroid:

  • Moto Droid
  • HTCDroid Incredible
  • HTC Droid Eris
  • HTC Hero
  • T-Mobile G1
  • Moto CLIQ
  • Nexus One

Once again, you have to have the "Premium Online" package to make use of this app, and no, Howard Stern is not available with this service.

Phandroid mentions that for those using "a locked-down AT&T Motorola Backflip, you will not be able to install this app."

MOTODROID When I first downloaded this as a 7 day free account(only because I did not remember my user name and password )I could not find the app any were to click on to restart it? It worked great. After calling Sirius XM(25-45wait on hold) I now had my info to go back and try it again you have to get the app from Siriusxm and not direct from the MARKET and you have to give your ok with this none MARKET down load and all the risk of that sort of thing (also you need to go back after you are done and unclick that box that oks
that) I was told that to get it to show up in the app tray I had to soft reset my phone (the sirous tech didn't sound like he was sure of that) but I did that and there it's was in the tray! Well I am quite happy it works great and I have Elvis in Graceland and all my other favorites!!! AND NO H.S.HUZZAH!!!
