Android 2.2 SDK And Saving Apps To SD Card

by Douglas Carter on Jul 9, 2010 3:10:28 PM — read 3,292 times

Yesterday the Android Developers team released a statement that the Android 2.2 SDK has been refreshed, and the new version matches the official version that is currently running on many Nexus One handsets. They also confirmed that the ability to save apps to the SD card (a popular question on the AndroidPIT forums) will be an option left up to the developer.

At Google I/O, a version of the Android 2.2 SDK was released, but was based on an early Nexus One build according to Phandroid's story.

AndroidCentral writes that the release of the Android 2.2 APK marks a "a good time to take a look at installing the SDK...Why? You're probably going to need it if you want to root your phone, take screen shots or follow along with whatever other hackery we might be talking about on a given day. It's quick, it's easy, and it's available here."

Android Developers gets indepth on how developers can choose where their apps are saved in the post here.

The post at Android Developers says that the process to choose where the app can be installed by typing "android:installLocation" followed by "internalOnly:", "preferExternal:", or "auto:". They get more indepth on how developers can choose where their apps are saved in the post, and which choice is best here.
