I have a Samsung Galaxy S as well, and I use the alarm that comes with the phone daily without fail so far. Have you tried uninstalling the extra alarm clock app, and do you check the volume before you go to sleep?

You also might want to insure that if you are using a task killer that you add it to your ignore list.

Like Douglas; I find the stock alarm to be all I need.
I use Timeriffic profile manager to silent calls and other sounds from 11pm to 7am but my alarm is set for 8am so I haven't had any problems personally. What profiles app are you using?

Yep the volume settings are fine. Both the default alarm and the app i installed
have the same issue. .Failing more often than not. I have added both to my ignore list on the app killer. I tested alarm 3 times during the day today and it worked fine but over night seems impossible. |

I am not sure which profile app i use. That app works fine though. When
I test the alarms it doesnt affect it except it seems at night. I also usr autoring which allows me to set up white lists for my contacts so when i am on silent mode at night my family can still call and it will ring. I have.tested the alarms with this.on and off |

I wonder if your profile app has a default night mode that you might not of noticed.. my app had some defaults as examples that I cleared then made my own. Just throwing out ideas

Are you turning your phone off at night? Try setting it to airplane mode instead. Also it could be that your phone is running out of memory (becuase of other applications running) and closing the alarm app. It can close any app whenever ram is low.

I dont turn the phone off at night and cant use airplane mode because I want to be sure my kids can call me if they need to, which is why I use the autoring app. My app killer is also set for manual kill only and not auto.

Thanks for that. Just checked the profiles settings but each profile has its own personal settings that I create and the night profile is all ok. The alarm failed again this morning and it does seem to be alarms that are set up the previous night for the next morning that don't work - as though when the phone clock/date system moves into another day it affects the alarm. A very minor thing on a great phone but still bloody annoying all the same.

I also recommend uninstalling the 3rd party alarm app, and seeing how it works like that. The time of the alarm working seems to be very weird. For it only to work in the day-time makes me think that there is some setting that needs to be changed, as the phone decided to only ring in the daytime should not happen on its own.

I have switched the phone off and on again and have not activated the profiles app this time. I will see how that goes and let you guys know tomorrow. Cheers |

There is always the option of performing a factory data reset, which will uninstall all the apps and data stored on the phone's internal memory. It should leave anything saved on your MicroSD card alone, though. Let me know if you want to go that route.

I believe Douglas has a good point.. it seems that a reset is all that's left to try.

Have you tried using the military time instead of the 12 hour clock..I have never had mine fail.

I have a similar issue where my alarm clock "rings" but at a very low volume level... I often sleep in cause of this...
Solution that I found that works... I take my phone and give it a "love tap" on my nightstand... and it starts ringing at normal volume... I think I'm looking at a hardware issue. what do you think? |
