Annoying Text Messages From Random Number

Hi everybody!

I strangely get mysterious text messages only containing a number. They do not appear in the messages-app - I can only click "OK" then they're gone.

The number is different each time. The issue is really annoying since they trigger the standard SMS-notification behavior (including ring-tone and vibration) and I get them every 5 minutes. I've had this problem since I bought the phone in early July, the FroYo Update did not solve it.

Can anyone help? Is it better to contact the provider?

I did find an app that will block numbers but since the number changes it won't help you. (and the free version won't block text)

It may be that your telephone number has been mixed up (1 or 2 numbers interchanged) with the number of some system which should be receiving those messages. I agree that your carrier is the best way to go in terms of solving the problem. Did you get the messages as soon as you got your Android phone? Did you have the same number from your old phone transferred to your Android phone when you bought it? When did the problem start?

have you tried to reply with the word "STOP".. That is kind of like the universal way to stop unwanted text from companies.. worth a try.

I get this when travelling in Germany - exactly what your picture shows, and I get many of them in a row - 10 or more. Strangely I seem to get them when travelling in an area where there are those large wind turbines....

They do show up in my messages app - but I can't reply to them as the "phone number" has only 3 digits. I would LOVE to know what these are - I always feel like I'm being contacted by aliens or something!!!

Well, judging from the fact that both of you are german, or are at least suffering the problem in Germany, I would advise you to go to the German side of AndroidPIT and ask around to see if anyone there gets the same problem. If so, they may have a solution for you.
