Hello and welcome to AndroidPIT. I have deleted your second thread, as it is the same as this one. No need to create two threads to have your question be seen.
On topic, this is a smartphone forum focused on Android, so I believe I can safely say that almost everyone here enjoys having a multifunctional phone (aka smart phone). I jsut looked up your phone and the F080 appears to be an imitation of the iPhone 4, but with a proprietary OS, different from iOS or Android. You have to be very careful when buying imitation phones, as they often don't deliver completely on the things they promise. It seems to me like that is what happened in your situation. I'm curious about how much you paid for it and if you can return it. If so, you might want to look into a device that isn't an imitation, but rather a device from a company doing it's own thing. HTC, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Palm, RIM, Apple. If all those are still too expensive for you, Huawei makes Android handsets at very affordable prices. Those imitation phones are often recipes for disaster.

You are right, getting a cell phone that has too many functions to offer somehow becomes useless as you might just not need them all. I also prefer to use a simple cell phone as I hate having a lot of frills in it. What I’m presently using now is the Just5 Easyphone. It’s very basic and it’s very simple, yet its features are practical. And it’s a lot more affordable as compared to multi-functional cell phones, too. This is a short video about this phone that I really like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-5W28Ve40w

I find it mostly depends on the individual.. some folks enjoy the complexities of electronic devices, like myself, while other folks merely want it to work when they need it.
I agree with douglas above it all depends on what handset you get, I personally am a fan of htc devices I love their sense ui, however on many occasions I have recommended folks get the iphone as it might be easier for them to get used to. So if all you need is to make telephone calls and maybe send the occasional text message a basic phone would be the way to go, but on the other hand if you need to do more like check the web, use navigation, find a movie, send an email, watch videos, take pictures, look at pictures, listen to music, or answer a post on android pit like I am doing right now (using voice to text technology) then a smartphone would probly be the way to go.

Just to add my two cents: I think there are some pretty good simple smartphones out there, but the biggest problem is of course the battery life. We're all still waiting for the big breakthrough in battery life where people will no longer have to "manage" their phone activity to make sure it lasts them through the day.

I agree Yan.. I often need to educate people a my place of employment on how to "manage" their devices to maximize battery performance (i.e. turn off Bluetooth and WiFi when not using, use black backgrounds on homescreens and apps etc).
