I sometime have to wait a long time for my icons to load. Has anyone else been having this issue?

Do you mean direct after startup, or after coming out of an app back onto the homescreen?

Doing a restart sometimes helps get rid of lag. Is that what may have happened?

I have the same problems with my Milestone. It´s getting better after I switched to the CyanogenMod, but a reeboot helps for some time..

I have found that often it is better to use the "back" key then to just push the "home" key.. I have noticed that the way the android OS uses memory.. when you hit Home.. it acts like its launching a "new" app.. instead of just pulling up one waiting in the back ground. Also.. if you use "LauncherPro" as your home replacement/manager.. it has the option of keeping itself in memory.

And for the advanced rooted user.. move your Home Launcher app from the data/app folder to the system/app folder that way its a lot less likely to be killed in the back ground.

Note: you will need to reboot once move if you only have the one Home Launcher.

I use "root explorer" app to do so.
