Where is the new Froyo camera?
created on Jan 3, 2011 8:19:46 PM
Hello all. I am new to this forum, and also new to Fryo, which I just downloaded on my HTC wildfire.

I have about how Froyo differs from Android 2.1, and one of the new features was supposed to be a new camera app. My camera is exactly the same as before. Anybody know why? I have googled this and come up with nothing.

Thanks in advance,

Mark, your Wildfire runs HTC Sense on top of Froyo (call it a skin if you will), so it doesn't have a new Camera app.
If you're up for the challenge, you can try installing a custom ROM based on stock (i.e. original) Froyo, though I don't recommend it unless you do plenty of research on it in advance before you run into any problems.
If you do decide to go the route of romming here's a good place to start: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=701

Thank you, Alex, that explains it. I already knew that HTC Sense was the reason behind my not having the new dock bar icons, but I didn't realise this extended to the camera as well. Oh well...
