What country are you residing in? Most (if not all) of Europe should've gotten the Android 2.2 update for the Galaxy S already. Do you already have Android 2.2, and are talking about a later update which has made your phone slow?

@William, since your phone doesn't have Android 2.2 yet, I would assume that vodafone is holding the update back so they can add bloatware to it. This happens a lot with carriers...
@MsKenia, is your phone also being slow ever since a new update, or is it only that the apps are deleting themselves? Are the apps disappearing from the Android Market, or are they actually disappearing from your phone? If they are disappearing from your phone, then you have two options: 1. do a factory reset of your phone. The factory reset will delete your installed apps and contacts, so back them up before you do it. 2. Take it in to Sprint and ask them to replace it. The internal memory on the phone is likely malfunctioning if the factory reset did not fix the problem.

Are you sure the version is 2.1.1 and not 2.2.1? I've seen posts today about the 2.2.1 update coming out and causing new lag, like you are experiencing. If you ARE running 2.1.1, check out this link here for a possible, yet complicated lag fix.

Have you tried uninstalling, redownloading, and reinstalling Kies? That might fix the problem. I've read some posts where people are receiving the update which I think you are talking about...
