Hi,
Is there somebody how knows how to indicate the name of the owner of the tablet ?
When started, on the first screen there is an information "This device belongs to" and thats all !
I would like put my name and a phone number or an email address.

Even the specialists was not able to answer.

Hi Didier, welcome to the forums. Have you added your gmail account to your galaxy tab yet? It may get that information from your gmail account setup on the device, but I don't know for sure.

It may be something to do with Samsung's TouchWiz software that comes with the device. Jeremiah's idea is a good one.

Have you installed the "Antivirus" app on your tablet from AVG? That might be the cause. If so, go into that app, hit menu, go to settings, remote management, lost message, and change the settings around.

Where is the "This device belongs to..." statement placed in the screen? could you upload a photo of the screen so I have an idea what app may be causing it?

I have a free application I found in the market called Contact Owner. It puts my name and email on the lock screen of my phone.

Side note: Originally I also put my phone number but then it occurred to me... uh, oh well.

yeah, I made that mistake at first on my phone as well, putting the number of the phone in the contact message.

Thank you for all your suggestions, but I can't replay to all suggestions, then I answer to the most frequent suggestion I recieved here and on some other forums:
R --> "Contact Owner" could be not only for HTC devices, as said in details of donwloading sites, but I can't take any risk ! I didn't try !

But THE SOLUTION IS .... it is a parameter of the standard anti-virus !
Simply: You have to enter in the edit mode of the anti-virus instaled by default in the Android system and go into "parameters" it's there !

Nota (1) I found a lot of 7" and 10" tablets under Android on the Net, between $150 to $300 (sometime without camera, sometime without 3G/Edge receptor), but some have specs very close to the Galaxy.
It's time that prices decrease fora real begining of this market ! I mean as cheap as a pocket calculator. Everybody must be able to buy his/her own tablet !

Those tablets you've seen may have similar looking specs, but trust me when I tell you that the Samsung Gaalxy Tab still has some of the best and most expensive hardware in any Android tablet yet released (the Xoom will change that quickly however). Those cheaper tablets will not be able to compete with a Galaxy Tab yet. Maybe in another 6 months or a year.

Yes probably the cheaper tablets are less performant than a Galaxy or an iPad, or an Archos (french tablet !).
But the market is driven by price ! That's a pity, but when we consider the poorest part of population we can't consider only the specifications. This population has the right, too, to access knowledge, culture and modern tools.

I didn't know the Xoom, thank you. Then I looked for it. I saw the presentations. It's really interesting. But what will be its price ?
On the same side let consider the Motion CL900.

In 1997, when I was in charge of microcomputing in Philips, I designed a tablet... TOO EARLY, technologically, yes, but more PSYCOLOGICALLY. The market was not ready. People did not understand anything. Inside Philips like outside, except ... in Apple ! In this time I met somebody in Apple who showed to me the Newton, annouced two months later. This was a revolution ... for 6 months ! Nobody remembers !
Except the psychology, the price was the killing spec.

Getting cheap tablets into the hands of the poor masses in a similar way to the whole One Laptop Per Child initiative is a noble initiative, but I'm not convinced that we need to be sending computers to children in third world countries, when more basic necessities like clean water, enough food, shelter, electricity, and schools for more people/children in general would possibly be a better expenditure of money.

However, making technology cheaper as a whole is without a doubt important, and is happening everywhere all the time. I agree about the psychology and pricing of tablets. The market needs lots of software/apps for the tablets to make them a justifiable expense if the average consumer and not some tech enthusiast is supposed to purchase a tablet.

With the rise in programs made around smartphones, the market was ripe for the introduction of a tablet now that the software is to a decent level.

The price is also a large factor in adoption, as you pointed out. I've seen a lot of people in here recently with cheap Android tablets from China and Taiwan and other Asian countries. The cheap no-name devices are starting to see adoption by the masses, but unfortunately, the companies selling the cheap tablets are not doing a great job in designing and supporting their products. Because of that, many people have problems with their devices and get discouraged by their purchase.

The devices from the big name companies are still very expensive and still do not always get good support. Only time will tell how successful tablet adoption will be.

The XOOM appears to be coming in a Wi-Fi only version and a 3G/4G/Wi-Fi version. The 3G/4G/Wi-Fi version looks to cost about $800 USD in the US, but I haven't seen any word on how much it will cost in Europe. It will, without a doubt, be very expensive.
