Speakerphone microphone problem. PLEASE HELP!

Hi there guys! I am a proud owner of a samsung galaxy s running froyo.

I am really happy with it, however during calls, whenever I am in speakerphone mode, the person i am talking to, does not hear me at all. The mute button is off so i always have to switch back to normal call mode where it works perfectly. What should i do? This phone is really brilliant but this minor issue is really bugging me. I would like to use my phone in as a speakerphone.

It seems to be a reoccurring issue with the samsung galaxy s running 2.1.

Did you get the official 2.2 froyo update?

Well, the firmware version is 2.2.1
the Baseband version is I9000XXJPU
the Kernel version is 2.6.32.9 root@sep-55 #1
Build number is FROYO.XXJPU

is this an original firmware? I don't know. sorry. where should i check?

If you don't know whether or not it is official, then it is official. The phone will only accept official updates, unless you root and ROM your handset to make it run another version of Android.

I haven't seen anyone else complaining about the same problem you have. Because of that, I can only recommend two options at this point:

1. Back up your installed apps and contacts and then perform a hardware-reset.

2. Do the backup mentioned above and see if you can exchange your phone for a Galaxy S that doesn't have this rare problem.

By the way, do you know how to perform a safe hardware reset?? Will the software return back to Eclair? do you think I could do it by myself? Isn't Samsung Kies, buggy???

Well, I actually made a spelling mistake in my last post. You would have to do a hard reset, also known as a factory-reset. If I remember correctly, the phone will keep the latest Android version. However, if it does manage to send your phone back to Android 2.1, you can just reupdate over Kies.

It is fairly easy to do a factory-data-reset. Check out this page for a decent walkthrough of how to reset it.

The reset will wipe the internal storage of the phone, so anything stored there will be deleted. Anything you have saved on the microSD card should be left untouched by the reset.
