How select skype for outgoing calls from the address book ?
created on Mar 29, 2011 4:27:49 PM
Hello, I'm new on that forum - and english is not my mother language, so please forgive possible mistakes..... Tnx After its purchase, I installed Skype on my SGS (Froyo 2.2 / BVJP8), it worked perfectly. As I didn't use Skypeout at that time, I de-selected the selection bar that appeared every time I was using a contact from the address boo, so to get direct access to my regular phone operator (Orange FR). Since a few days, I am using SkypeOut and I'd like to get this selection bar back, but I don't know how to do it.... Could s'one kindly help me to solve these little issue? Thanks in advance / Vielen dank Regards, Romain

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if the option appears again? Otherwise, I would recommend going into the settings of Skype and looking to see if there is a box you can check to once again make it selectable when making a call.

Hi, sorry for the late answer (tnx for it) - I was away for a couple of days, and no internet access there - Regarding your hints: - there was no box available that could have helped to select the missing function again - I've uninstalled Skype but now I can't reinstall it again as at one stage of the process there is a message prompting s'thing like " install not completed due to not enough memory available" I did 3 unsuccessfull attempt after uninstalling some useless softs........ I tried also to DL skype's APK file from my PC, but installation failed as well..... I don't think there is really an issue with the memory cards, as there is plenty of available free space on it: (Prog: 187Mo/1,87Go - Data: 6.7Mo/117Mo - Internal SD: 52Mo/5.78Go - External SD: 1.85Go/ 7.40Go.....). Maybe a RAM problem (242Mo/304Mo)? Tnx for further help

update 8/4:
I confirm that there is no memory issue, as I could install another VoIP client (ooVoo), trouble free.. I cannot log in, but that's another story.
It looks like there a problem with the latest version of Skype on SGS.....

I had this problem with having multiple contact entries but this is easy enough solved.
First, make sure you that your Skype account is synced to your address book. Any synced accounts will have multiple contact entries, ie Google, Facebook, Skype etc. Names may vary, eg John, John Smith, J Smith and so on depending how the contact appears in the corresponding address book.
Select the primary phone contact (lets say, John Smith) and select settings/edit.
Now scroll to the link contacts box. You can now select a secondary phone book contact, in this case Skype, Select the contact entry (J Smith for example) then press done.
The skype contact details/options are now visible under the primary contact "John Smith" (Call with Skype, Video Call with Skype etc.).
Hope this helps.
