cant download anything

I've just got a xperia x8 and i cant get it to download any apps from the market all i get is the blue and white bar spinning andit says" starting download underneath" but thats as far as it gets, can anyone help me with this please

This is a well known Android Market problem. Unfortunately there is nothing what you can do, besides waiting...

how long do i have to wait or is it just a case of the andriod market having a poor server?
whats your advice "just keep trying"

is there anywhere else to get the apps from?

Sometimes the directions below will fix the problem:

Try restarting your phone, and connecting via wifi. Also try:

1. Open Settings.

2. Select Applications.

3. Select Manage Applications.

4. Select Market (You may have to press Menu > Filter > All to see it)

5. Select Clear cache.

6. Back out of the screen and select Download Manager.

7. Select Clear data.

8. Also clear data for Google Apps, Google Talk, and Checkin Service.

Click the AndroidPit download link.

Thanks that app lets me download apps so i dont know why the app market does not but no matter thanks for the link finally i can download apps on my phone i cant thank you enough pal
