RE: Rooting Motorola Droid X? created on Jun 9, 2011 11:16:22 PM Ben Dreyfuss Anyone root their device? How did you do it? I just found a one-click rooting site but I'm not sure whether I can trust these guys? Anyone use this site? Or another? http://techie-buzz.com/mobile-news/root-motorola-droid-x-gui-tool.html http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953 Your looking for the attach "z4root" apk file .. And follow direction @ your own risk. Your phone, your responsibility. Also search under your device name and you 'll find. A noob section that gives a detailed instructions on how to root your device. Rooted my mdx to grab the gingerbread leak only to unroot to get the ota update. Goodluck with your venture and let us know on how it goes :-) |

The bonus to downloading that root from XDA forums is that it's pretty safe; if something goes wrong, you can simply reboot the device and this should fix any issues.

I had rooted my phone twice before, but due to system "up grades" each time lost root access. This was probably the easiest that I have done yet. Thanks Much! |

@Ben - It really depends on what device your rooting, as Samsung, Motorola, and HTC all have different methods and require different tools to do so. Its generally easy as long as you follow instructions.
Which device exactly are you trying to root? |
