Hi Ben,
first: welcome to AndroidPIT! Did you install the effected Apps on SD-Card? This could be on possible reason.

Yes. I didn't realize that was a side effect of installing apps on the SD card. Do you think it's a bug that will be fixed or a permanent condition?

unlikely. After you wake up your phone, the SD-Card needs some time to strat too. That´s why the icons isn´t avaiable. Especially Widgets, or apps with widgets should never be stored on SD.

Right on target. Interestingly, I only had to change a couple of apps back to phone memory and all the icons corrected themselves. Thanks for the tip.
