Hi Harry,

Yes, you can see which apps can be transferred to your SD card by going to Settings ---> Applications ----> Manage Applications ----> Then click on each app and you should find a button that says "move to SD card." There will probably be a few apps that won't move but hopefully enough will be transferable to help clear up phone storage.

You can try importing / exporting contacts and installing an app called App2SD, which might illuminate a few apps that can be moved to SD storage that you weren't able to find before.

Hi Steven, I had an update about 7 or 8 months ago. This brought the system to 2.1

I also have the htc hero with android 2.1. We need 2.2 to be able to install apps on the SD card. But you can BACKUP apps with android 2.1. Search the market for App2SD as Steven has mentioned already. You won't be able to run your apps while they are on the SD card, but you can backup your least used apps to the SD card. Then when you want to use/run them you'll just have to reinstall them. I'm not sure if the backup with app2SD will work for every app on unrooted phones, I know it will work for apps that don't use copy protection on un-rooted phones. From what I've heard, it's not likely the hero will get an update to 2.2 anytime soon.
