I've heard of people being able to use special online services to send faxes directly from their computers. Is there the equivalent of that for Android? it would be great if I could send pdf files from my phone as a fax. I'm fine with a paid app as long as it works.

Yes, you can fax from your computer, through most Voip Telephone Services that you set up with it. However, the problem with faxing through your computer is that it is not as secure and sending a fax through a landline, and there is no way for it to ever be as secure, so by doing so, you run the risk of someone being able to see what you are faxing - privacy problems. I've never seen faxing through a phone, and dont know if I would recommend it, as it would be an even more unsecure connection, and therefore running huge privacy problems with what you are sending. Now, if what you are sending is unimportant, then obviously it wouldnt be a big deal. But overall, I have not realy heard of anything for android.
