HTC ChaCha — Keypad illumination

Yesterday i was amazingley frustrated with my CHACHA, was inside wembley arena, trying to type a text message and couldnt cos keys were not illuminated, was trying to find somewhere on phone where i could manually change a setting if it was automatic but found nothing. Everybodys blackberrys and such were all successfully illuminated so why wasnt mine? Please help.

Your phone has an Ambient Light Sensor.. That means if you walk into a bright place, the illumination doesnt appear. Once you walk into a darker place, the illumination appears. Please research your phone before buying it.

Is Wembley Arena a dark place? Do you know how to turn on the ambient light sensor?

Thanks Steven, Wembley is kinda dark but had stage lights on but wasnt directed to me, i was sat at the back which is darker than the front, and no dont know how to turn on the ambient light sensor.
