Okay... Im not going to advice you do this but I've been in a similar situation and yeah it can work to a point but its really not that good of an idea. Googlemaps loads often and it can be a real hit or miss kind of thing. Its probably safer to take screenshots of the area in question.

well if your using a HTC sensation like me, there's a preloaded app called "locations" that's able download map areas for easy viewing if your cant get WiFi maps or w/e. 1st map is free iirc (I downloaded United Kingdom free) but then u need to pay a small fee for others. Not ideal, but handy.
though if you don't have a sensation, I'm not too sure what apps (there's crapp load of map apps) that will do what u need. hope this is helpful in anyway. |

You guys are also aware that you can save sections of Google Maps as well for offline navigation? I explain how to do so in the following blog post:

It would be sweet if someone came out with a Google Earth app that accesses a database saved on the SD card.

As an alternative to Google Maps you could check out Mapdroyd, or better yet read our review before you make up you mind. It has a lot of drawbacks, but it is basically a street map in digital form.
