Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc — "Emergency Calls Only"

"Emergency Calls Only"
created on Sep 28, 2011 11:11:50 AM
Hi everyone...

Not sure if this is a carrier or device issue, but my Xperia Arc is now displaying "Emergency Calls Only" and won't let me place any calls or even connect to data. The weirdest thing is that I have full bars! And, unlike in the past with other phones, the status hasn't changed even after leaving the apartment, where my signal is often quite bad. I don't know what to do....thanks in advance!

That could be alot of things:

  • Your phone is locked from the provider
  • your SIM card bit the dust
  • You don't have a good signal despite what is shown
  • or Your provider is having problems
.

Id restart the phone, entere your pin and see if it is still happening. it will probably clear itself up over tiem.

I am also experiencing a similar problem with my Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro purchased 15 days back.

Once the phone moves into "emergency calls" mode may be because of network conditions, it is not able to get out of it, even if signal level is very good.

Only on manual intervention- > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Network operators and forced selection to home netwok.

The problem being reported to Xperia support and await for a soluion.

Yup the phone might be locked by the carrier.. If so you can very well unlock it via commercial vendors online like Superunlockcodes.com where you just have to submit your IMEI number, country and network to them.. Further by the unlock code they provide you yourself can unlock it step by step.. Once unlocked you can use any carrier to it.
