You can't without rooting it.

What? You can run non-market apps easily just by checking the box in the settings. Otherwise, how would 3rd party markets work?

Some carriers block unkown sources in there phones, att did for a long time, not sure if they still do. In these cases you have to root the phone first.

Wow I didn't know that. I guess that's one of the advantages of living internationally... I haven't had to deal with that yet. ::O

Ive never seen a case where you cant do that. That would mean companies like Gameloft couldnt sell apps from their own website.

AT&T did it for a long time: http://phandroid.com/2010/06/29/att-we-block-non-market-apps-to-keep-developers-in-check/

I think even att is more flexible now though and allows their new phones the option to allow unknown sources, but they did block them for a long time.

This was implemented in the Backflip due to the limited screen space and Blackberry like interface. This device was aimed at BB users.

I have seen some solutions from the XDA site . Have a look and good luck

I didnt know that! Thanks for letting me know.

And yeah, Chris is right. There are workarounds on XDA to overcome this. Have a look there if you think thats the issue.

Good luck!
