so?

Just have a little doubt over going for a factory reset in my Samsung galaxy Y. I understand that factory re-set will delete all the apps and all other personal data that's stored in the phone. But will it delete android OS (gingerbread) as well? or just the private data and apps that's on SD card and phone memory?

Thanks..

Nope it just restores your device to the basic settings so your OS will be complete!

sd card won't be affected. though it does not hurt to keep a backup in case "rule 1".
Internal memory will be ressetted like save contacts, installed apps and games etc. Everything placed on sd card will not be affected at all
