Pena Nieto wins Mexican presidential election: preliminary results

MEXICO CITY, July 1 (Xinhua) -- The Institutional Revolutionary Party's (PRI) candidate Enrique Pena Nieto has won Mexico's presidential election, preliminary results showed on Sunday.
According to the quick count results of polling stations released by Mexico's Federal Electoral Institute, Pena Nieto has won around 38 percent of votes with a solid lead over the other three candidates.
Pena Nieto's victory would mean a return to power for the PRI, which ruled Mexico for seven decades until its defeat in 2000 by the National Action Party's Vicente Fox.
