Samsung Galaxy 3 — Notification Bar - g-mail receipt

I did a full reset on my phone, at AT&T request, and now the notification that I have e-mail no longer works.
Before, I got a whistle and an icon on the notification bar, but, alas, no longer.

How do I get my "wolf whistle" back ?
