Explosive Breaching Calculator

Description

Explosive breaching charge calculator to determine the net weight of explosive charges (primer and main charge) and the PSI effects for interior and exterior shots. This is the same set of calculations used by police SWAT, EOD, Army, Navy, Marine Corp, Air Force, FBI and taught by all of the explosive breaching schools. I have just created an app that allows you to plug in the basic numbers for your explosives and all of the math is done for you and shown on the screen. You can even email the shot information to yourself or someone else so you can have a hard copy of all the data for the shot. There is no internal memory so your shot information will not be saved once the program is closed or you clear out the data to enter another shot. If you want the shot info you must email it to get a hard copy. The app will show you the external PSI values and distance from target for each value. Plug in the values for a room's dimensions and you will be given the internal PSI values for that room. The math has been tested many times during recent training shots and it is reliable. I also included calculations in the screen shots so you can do the math on your own for those weights and see that results are correct. I wanted to keep this app simple but I am willing to add things if certain agencies need anything specific to their breaching program, as long as I have the ability to implement those changes. Any and all feedback is welcomed.

Good app Great app, comes in handy when looking up NEW values, Anyway though you could add time fuze and a drop down for common plastic explosives like C-4 or Semtex.

Good concept Hopefully a future update will allow the ability to change to metric measurements.

Great simplistic design As a 2311 Cpl trying to become a 2336, this tool provides some motivation now and again when I open it. Also, the EOD bobble head in my car helps!!

Actually Justin, it also calculates C1 thru C4. Working on a couple of upgrades for other explosives too.

To make this more EOD friendly add a pounds box for other HE ie RDX, Anfo etc and make NEW a fill in box that defaults to 1.66

What's New

Blasting caps grains have been changed from a fixed number of 15.4 to a text entry box that allows you to enter your own grains. The default is set to 15.4. Also, the screen is set to a fixed portrait mode so turning your phone will not cause the screen to rotate to landscape mode (easier entry in portrait mode).
