Allows the application to control the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can switch networks, turn the phone radio on and off and the like without ever notifying you.

It has never found a threat on my phone, so either it's working, or I don't need it as mentioned on The Pit.
The lost phone feature requires root access, so most of us are SOL as long as we are concerned about warranties.
Someone mentioned it was eating batteries on their tab, and my phone has been doing just that-eating batteries. Hmmmm...
