Recent studies have revealed that software from 'Carrier IQ' has been pre-installed on certain mobile devices. The software appears to be designed to optimize network performance through the use of different metrics. Concerns have arisen due to the lack of an obvious opt-out mechanism and the fact that detection of 'Carrier IQ' is a non-trivial task. Works great. It installed and ran quickly. It's good to if an app can see your carrier.
