Description
Bothered by having your phone flip to portrait or landscape while laying down? Too lazy to look around Android settings to enable/disable autorotate? This app is the solution. This is a very simple free app that allows you to do the following:
- Lock your screen's rotation in Landscape, Portrait or Auto. When you launch the app, you're faced with these three options.
- Includes a Tasker/Locale plugin so you can automate the rotation switch based on different profiles.
- Ability to launch the app from any window in Android by long pressing on the search key. (Only for devices that have a physical search button).
- Long press on any orientation profile to activate a persistent background service. (This is useful if your phone seems to exit the locked orientation all of a sudden due to low memory resources).
- A widget is provided so you can lock into whatever your current orientation is. (Useful for reverse landscape for example).
I've searched the Market for an app that will lock my screen's autorotate to landscape and found only one paid app that runs a service continuously in the background (regardless of chosen screen orientation) so I wrote this up. It's free and the background service is optional.
It should work on any device sporting Android 2.1 (Froyo) and higher.

Background mode causes Google video to stutter Works for the home screen once you long-press auto. However, this leads to stuttering google video playback. Weird. Three stars for the effort, five once it works.

Amazing! I can't believe Jelly Bean does't have this function itself. In default system, when you lock on a rotation, it's not really locked, it depends on specific applications! This app solves the problems for good.

It's perfect for my Asus Transformer TF101 ! Biased to landscape orientation. And I can even lock it to force-landscape apps that are not tablet-optimized. The app has been up and working in the background of my AT for a month now without any problems. Only when I see the icon in my notification when expand it once in a while do I remember it's been up and working in the background straight without let up, or problems ever since and it doesn't seem to have an effect on the cpu.

Good App! Awesome. But is there a way to make the app start at boot? I want it to start automatically. If not, can you include it in the next update? Thanks!

Great app, apart from issues with the camera app Great app! I would definitely give 5 stars if the camera app didn't crash when rotating from landscape to portrait on my Galaxy Mini. No other issues so far.
