Description
★★ BirdLog is the only Android app for recording and submitting your bird sightings directly into eBird while in the field! ★★Forget about notebooks, pencils and sitting at your computer. Transform your bird sightings into eBird submissions to build your own lists while sharing your sightings and supporting conservation.
You’ll enter more lists with BirdLog and enter them more accurately. It is easy to tally birds as you go—and thus counting them more accurately, automatically capturing the time and duration, and using the device’s GPS and map interface for greater precision of locations.
BirdLog was developed by active eBird users as a power app for submitting data into eBird. If you are not already familiar with eBird, we recommend that you visit ebird.org and register before using BirdLog the first time.
Here's what some birders are saying about BirdLog, the only app for directly submitting sightings into eBird from the field:
★ “BirdLog will fundamentally change the way we go birding,” Chris Wood, eBird Project Leader.
★ “I enter more checklists simply because it’s so easy, and still have more free time at home. I’ve waited for in-the-field data entry for years,” Marshall Iliff, eBird Project Manager.
★ “The ability to record real-time bird observations in the field and have them flow directly into the eBird database has huge implications, not just for birders and eBird, but for citizen-science in general,” Brian Sullivan, eBird Project Manager.
★ “BirdLog is stunning in its simplicity and efficiency. I now enter my almost daily observations in the field with greater accuracy in time, date, and numbers,” Ohio eBirder.
BirdsEye BirdLog is the exclusive mobile data entry app for eBird that allows you to:
✔ Plot the exact location of your sightings using your phone's GPS
✔ Create new personal locations or choose an existing hotspot or personal location for your checklist
✔ Create checklists even when there is no cell coverage to later submission to eBird
✔ Enter birds quickly and easily as you see them using bird codes or full names
✔ Scroll and review your checklist before submitting it
Our company is committed to birds, the birding community and bird conservation. Every BirdsLog purchase you make directly supports the eBird project of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. We think they’re worth it—now and for the future of birds and their habitats.
Notes on BirdLog v1.4: BirdLog has matured, features have been added and bugs have been fixed compared to previous versions. Some known issues are: 1) GPS location is still a bit difficult in places with low cell coverage; 2) The default list used when there is no connection is the full North American list.
This version includes the US (including Hawaii) and Canada. Our world version, called BirdLog Worldwide is available for birders who want world coverage. The advantage of the regional versions compared to the world version is that the lists are smaller and slightly faster because they do not need to juggle the full worldwide taxonomy, and because they offer a much shorter default list for use when creating a checklist offline.

Revolutionary Finally, a smart phone app to input eBird data with. This app has changed the way I bird (and eBird), allowing me to submit checklists faster and more often. This is a MUST have for any serious ebirder. It is simple to use. Great work with this one!!!

Buy it! BEST AND MOST USEFUL BIRDING APP YET I have never been moved to review an app before. I have been using this app for about 5 months. It has changed my birding life. I always procrastinated about inputting my sightings to ebird after getting home from birding. I always planned to and somehow didn't get around to it. That has changed with this app. I submit regular reports from the field while birding. All ebird hotspots and my personal locations are available to me. Easy and efficient. I use it at least once daily and during Apr-June much more.

Awesome on IOS, aweful on Android and cost same Birdseye available on Apple products is in a league of its own as the best birding app out there. It not only allows you to log your sightings but also view sightings in your area submitted by other birders. It offers you that feature no other birding app has. This Android application allows you to submit your sightings and build upon the database available to iPhone/iPad users but you have to go to a website to view it. The same website you can utilize for free without buying this app. To be fair, the design of this app is good, but to pay the same price as the IOS version for the missing component separating it from the rest is not reasonable. Other Android apps offer much more for the same price. Hold out from buying to give the developer some more incentive to port the true Birdseye app over to Android. My 1 star rating relative to what you get for the price will quickly turn to 5 once they provide the full version and I certainly won't be using Google's 15 min refund option next time.

Great Birding Tool I have been using this App almost every day for the last month. I have only once had a glitch ( kept getting a msg. saying could not submit list...wait until internet available); I was connected to internet. Anyway the problem was solved by restarting phone (Droid X). BirdLog is convenient, efficient and does just exactly what it was designed to do. While there may be some additional desirable features that could be added, I am happy with BirdLog. Regardless, it sure beats keeping a paper list and eliminates have to carry around a note book to keep track of bird sightings. Submitting your lists to Ebird couldn't be simpler. Bravo Birds in the Hand!

Loving this app! This app is a life saver for entering incidental and short stationary counts on-the-fly. **edit - amazing for all types of bird counts** I've got over 100 entries submitted through this app. I don't see the need for the data hungry satellite view of maps, but that's less of a gripe now since we can use recent spots. The price is steep, but worth supporting a developer who is changing the face of birding. I look forward to more updates... perhaps the ability to view our personal data, such as patch totals, y
