The playlists access is restricted to Spotify premium users due to the Spotify policy. However, Spotimote is able to extract playlists and put them in the favorites automatically if you are an unlimited or free user.

Spotimote communicates with the Spotimote server component over Wifi. The connection is automatic, you don't have to specify an address or anything.
After the installation of the Spotimote server component, when you launch it for the first time, you may be prompted by the Windows Firewall. You have to authorize the server component to access the network or it won't be able to communicate with your android device.
About the permissions, the "READ PHONE STATUS AND IDENTITY" permission is required to let spotimote automatically pause the music when an incoming call is received on the phone.

Perfect solution! Tried out the free version, and within 5 minutes knew I'd be buying it. Works perfectly for my setup, allows me control Spotify on my HTPC while it is running behind WMC on Windows 8. Slightly lag between sending a command and it producing the desired result on the PC, but that is completely acceptable. Not only that, this app works within the Holo style guidelines, a requirement for all my apps. Well done, and looking forward to using this app for a long time to come!

Nexus 7 & galaxy s3 Keep an old receiver and laptop hooked up in the basement and is connected to outside speakers. This makes it so nice to sit by a fire and enjoy my spotify.
