Gurk, the 8-bit RPG

An Unexpected Surprise I didn't expect much from this game, chalk it up to judging a game by its screen shots, but this game is a lot of fun! There's no story line, none that I've detected yet anyway. You control 3 characters, a knight, an archer and a mage. You explore, kill things, level up, buy better equipment, rinse and repeat. It is simple, and it's great. There's a large variety of bad-guys, the difficulty is not too steep, but enough to be challenging, and it's easy to let 5 minutes playing this turn into 30, 60, etc. The only beef I have is I hate having to press the direction button every time I want to move. I wish there was a "hold" feature that would let me travel long distances with a single button press. Interface is clean, no cumbersome ads (except for a small one at the bottom for Gurk II that is easily cleared away. No in-app purchase garbage, no connecting to servers, performance issues. A satisfying game! Kudos to the devs! I'll probably pay for the second one - it's that good!

Great, addicting, fun. As stated above, very fun, very addicting. The only problem I've experienced so far is that when you bring up the party menu and are navigating from character to character, EXIT and BACK switch spots occasionally, depending on what screen you're currently viewing. This is dumb and EXIT and BACK should just always be in the same spot instead of swapping around based on the screen.

Great! Love the old school stuff, can't wait for the next game. It has sound!!

great little timewaster really enjoyed this game, the only problem was that it was over far too quickly and i had to get gurk II :-)

Loved it A bit short. Beat it in 3 hours. Otherwise a great rpg.

Done? Lvl 12, beat braka now what? Too short. Only complaint.

Just try it. I really enjoyed Gurk. It is so simple to pick up and play. The fight style combines the random encounters of a final fantasy game, with the battle strategy of fire emblem. The character and enemy designs are fun and interesting. It is very simple yes, but that is where it's charm comes from. Gurk 2 gives you all the things you miss in this title, but don't pass tis one up.
