There was a recent post expressing concern as to why the app allows the read contacts permission and allows the phone to dial numbers. The ONLY reason the app allows contact reads are to allow users to insert present contacts into dive buddy, physician, etc fields without having to type the name in each time(still to be implemented). The dial numbers permission is used in the hyperbaric chamber look-up. The app does NOT make ANY calls, but will open the phone with the number ready to be dialed. The user must physically place the call. We felt this feature would limit the need to dial numbers in case of emergency, offering instead, a means to quickly contact the selected chamber.
We hope this explanation help clear up any confusion. Dive Shack, nor Logix, have no interest in your contact information aside from making the app easier for you to use. Nor are we interested in placing phone calls. These features are simply to provide a better app for you, our users.
