DescriptionGet an alarm even without a GPS signal! Cell ID Area Alarm uses cell IDs to create an alarm that goes off when your Android device connects to a cell ID(the specific ID of a stationary cellular tower-hardware that your phone connects to). On a train, bus or subway after a long workday and don't want to miss your stop? Find the cell ID(s) at your stop on the options screen, plug them into the app then open up the app whenever you want the alert. As you approach the area and your device connects to the cell ID(s) the alarm will be triggered. While not precise like GPS, it can give you an approximate alarm for areas you designate. Moreover, you don't have to be holding your device trying to find a GPS signal. Up to 40 IDs can be entered into the app with labels. You can activate/inactivate them by toggling a check in a checkbox. Make some for the bus stop, home, work, whatever you want. It is best to take some time and map the cell IDs that are in the vicinity of your destination. In the Cell IDs screen you can press the "Get Cell ID" button to display the current cell ID that your handset is using. Enter that in one of the the 40 spaces. Periodically check for new ones in your vicinity and save them to get a good mapping. When you start the alarm, the screen shows that it is "ON". It checks the current cell ID against your activated saved Cell IDs. It then polls your device every 7 seconds to do this check(please leave app open, notification will show it is running). When the current cell ID matches an activated saved one, the alarm will sound! If you are on the phone at the time it will only vibrate and the notification will change colors. If you aren't on a phone call it rings, alarms, vibrates, flashes, and a notification is sent. GSM and CDMA. Your device must be connected to a phone network to work.
