First off, let me just say that booking a hotel room using this application is a breeze. Once you’ve selected the hotel you wish to stay in, you can make your reservation via the app itself, and only minutes after having done so you will receive a confirmation email in your inbox. Piece. Of. Cake.
The Hotel Easy Bookers welcome page is quite pared down—and I don’t mean that in a negative sense. I mean, think about it: the user may just wants to book a hotel, so why make the homepage super complex and bursting at the seams with different functions and options? In order to make your pick you can select the city (or radius) that you want to stay in, the booking dates, the amount and type of rooms and what kind of a ratings the hotel has received by other guests. You can also select the currency and if distances should be displayed in kilometres or miles.
I was attending a conference in Heidelberg, so I decided to give Hotel Easy Bookers a spin. I looked for a hotel with a very good rating (at least four stars). The list of options the app comes up with is – much like the welcome page – kept simple and to the point. The hotels are listed along with their ratings, price lines and exact addresses. And that’s it, basta!
Click on a hotel to see more details—all information displayed is based on the internet websites Hotel.info and Hotel.de.
My first critique would be that though it is possible to see how other users have rated a hotel in different categories, you can only read the full texts of their reviews by doing a little detour. You have to click on ‘Book Now’ and then ‘Customer evaluation’ in order to read through them—I found this to be quite a hassle and not at all in tune with the rest of the easy-to-use vibe I was getting from the app.
As far as bookings go, I should add that a hotel room may be listed as having different price points; this comes down several factors, one of them being that cheaper offers exclude cancellation fees. In fact, in some cases cancellations are only possible if you're willing to pay a surcharge. That's one of the reasons why prices may vary between +-5-10 Euro.
The app’s minimalism has its downsides, too: some functions (that I’ve come to depend upon from using other hotel comparison apps) are missing. For instance, it isn’t possible to sort user ratings via date (i.e. newest ratings are listed first) or relevance. If you ask me, having a built-in filter for reviews and ratings is a major must for a hotel booking application.
Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to indicate which price range you are looking to book a hotel in.
Bottom line:
Hotel Easy Bookers does an excellent job at making hotel reservations. The app is quick and nimble thanks to its simple setup and design—we highly recommend it to users who want to book a hotel fast and don’t have much time to dilly dally.
However, if you are looking to do more thorough research, this app may be helpful, but certainly not the most effective or comfortable to use. This comes down to not being able to compare reviews and ratings as effectively as one might hope, and the lacking filter and sorting options.
