Description
WritePad's is a new input method for Android OS which aims to replace the on-screen keyboard with PhatWare's proven multilingual handwriting recognition technology and can be used for text input in any Android application. WritePad supports most Android Smartphones and Tablets and is especially useful on pen-enabled Android Tablets, such as Samsung Galaxy Note, HTC Jetstream and others.WritePad features 4th generation handwriting recognition technology which supports practically any handwriting style, including cursive (script), print, and mixed. The software analyzes pen strokes written in the designated WritePad area, then converts those pen strokes into text and sends the recognized text to the target application. While many handwriting recognition tools for smartphones and tablets leave users frustrated with the app’s inability to correctly interpret their handwriting, WritePad’s state-of-the-art handwriting recognition software will adapt and learn the user’s style of writing.
Key WritePad features:
- Advanced multilingual handwriting recognition engine supports 11 languages, including Danish, Dutch, English (UK and US), Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Swedish, and Spanish.
- Integration with any application allowing text input, such as email, SMS, notes, word processing, and others.
- Statistical analyzer, which improves overall handwriting recognition quality by addressing common recognition errors. If this feature is enabled, WritePad will learn the user’s own handwriting style.
- Customizable auto-corrector, which automatically fixes common spelling and recognition errors.
- Editable user dictionary to improve recognition of custom words and names not included in the main dictionary.
- Built-in full keyboard with autocomplete; if needed, users can switch between keyboard and handwriting with a single touch of a button.
- Four basic recognition modes: cursive/mixed or print for general text entry; Numeric for entering numbers and phone numbers; and Internet for entering email addresses and URLs.
- Built-in calculator, enabling users to write simple equations such as "22.3+15.66=" and WritePad will calculate the result.
- Letter shape selector allows users to further improve recognition quality by disabling unused letter shapes.

Poor performer This app has a tough time recognizing letters, especially combinations. It would recognize a letter correctly but change it entirely upon entry of the next letter so I could never form a proper word. ASUS tablet

Hopeless on Lenovo thinkpad!!! Avoid with tablets. Recognises singles words fine , which is far too slow to do anything productive. String together even 3-4 words per row (as you can with a 10inch tablet with trig stylus)... and writepad recognises absolutely nothing. Also, no palm rejection. Was unable to get a refund of my money either..... Very dissapointed.

Please add or fix for ppl with horrible handwriting I've had this for a.while and rarely.use it because it doesn't recognize my handwriting. Please make an option or setting to manually input my handwriting so it can work! Example I'm willing write my abcs so it can recoqnize it. Not everyone has neat/perfect handwriting

Good for tablets Works well on my tablet, not so good for my phone. Purely a matter of screen space, not program bugs.

Main Input I have been using this since it's last version and would give full stars, but in latest version the spacebar button deletes the handwritten text instead of inserting it. Fix it and I will give the last star.

Great with Galaxy Note I use it as primary input. Just wish there was a left- handed option for display. My hand covers the word panel.

Works better than I expected... I didn't have terribly high hopes for a handwriting recognition app to replace the keyboards that came standard with my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, but I was pleasantly surprised by WritePad. Yes it does have some quirks that can be annoying such as weird behavior in regards to capitalization, giving gibberish for something you have written completely legible, and changing words that were correct as you continue writing. I have been proof reading the lines before I commit them anyway, so none of those issues are a deal breaker and as I continue to use the app these issues show up less and less. I will not win any awards for speedy text entry with this app, but it beats attempting to utilize the keyboard when the tablet is in landscape. Note: I am using this app with a stylus.
