Description
★★★★★ A Driving Safety app that warns you of collisions!iOnRoad improves driving in real time using the power of advanced smartphones. The app uses the smartphone’s native camera, GPS and sensors to detect vehicles in front of the host vehicle, alerting drivers when they are in danger. Our Visual Radar maps objects in front of the driver in real-time, calculating the driver's current speed using native sensors. As the vehicle approaches danger, an audio-visual warning pops up to alert of a possible collision, allowing the driver to brake in time.

Great idea. .. but it need work. Lane departure doesn't work well, and it detect parked cars and signs along the road. Also, I'm not sure that distance measurement is very accurate. I'll keep using it. Developers should keep improving it.

Great app Its app is great I only have one problem with it, not really a problem but its just something I would prefer, I have a 1999 firebird and if I mount my phone on the dash ionroad doesn't see enough road to properly work, and if I mount it on the windshield it sees just enough for it to work, in short would be nice if it could auto calculate where the road is for the sportier, more angled cars other than that great tool, for experianced drivers and beginners (makes for a great learning tool)

Great but dangerous Really love the technical brilliance that went into making this app but it actually served more as a distraction when braking in traffic than a help. It does work, unfortunately usually a second too late, or telling me about a lane departure when I am changing lanes! Not at all useful, but very clever.

I don't see the point Lane departure detection is a great idea; too bad it's not reliable. I'm not sure I got it to function once, even when purposely attempting to do so. Car location functionality? That's fine, but lots of apps do that. As for the rest of the features: firstly, even if they worked reliably, why do I need an app to tell me that I'm too close to the car in front of me? Is this so when I'm catching some Z's behind the wheel, I'll be warned when I start to creep too close to the car in front of me? I already have a tool for this: *eyes*! By the time the app could warn me, I'd be well aware of my proximity. And collision detection?? Seriously? Let say it warns you you're about to collide with something 30 feet in front of you, and you're at highway speeds. This is supposed to help you? To have time to react, you'd have to be going so slowly that, if it's a human you were colliding with, it would merely cause the person minor discomfort. And to top it off, none of the functionality works reliably! Not in my experience, anyway. The app's use of technology is kind of neat. This is the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one.

Would be good if it actually worked! It's a great idea, but it doesn't work on my phone. If I try to use the app with the test video on the developer's site, my phone crashes almost immediately. HTC Sensation with ICS
