Descriptionjazzahead! 2013 sets sails
Save the date: 25 - 28 April 2013
jazzahead! 2013 enters the next round! Due to the rising visitor and exhibitor numbers, and in response to many requests by the participants, the international trade show will now begin on Thursday already – half a day earlier than in the past years. From Thursday, April 25th, until Sunday, April 28th, Bremen will be a jazz metropolis with lots of music and a diverse program. jazzahead! is the most important international jazz trade show, incl. its integrated showcase festival. For the past seven years, the trade fair has been steadily growing. In 2012, the number of exhibiting companies increased by as much as 42%. The showcase festival features top-class jazz from Germany, Europe and beyond and has established itself as one of the most important international networking spaces for jazz musicians.
“jazzahead! is like a weekend in New York – you’re tired but energetically charged“, says jazz journalist Karsten Mützelfeldt. “There’s no other place where you can meet people as clustered as here. For me, this is the most important jazz trade show!” Patron of jazzahead! 2013 is Bernd Neumann, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. “I’m sure the coming edition of jazzahead! will be yet another great success”, Bernd Neumann writes in a letter to the Exhibition Center Bremen. “I am especially delighted that Israel will be this year’s partner country. By choosing Israel, the organizers send an important signal for the German-Israeli cultural exchange.”
After Spain and Turkey, Israel will be jazzahead!’s partner country in 2013 and will be the central focus of the partner country program which lasts several weeks and spans a variety of cultural disciplines. The country’s population hails from over 100 countries on five continents and holds an extraordinary diversity of cultural influences. Besides its close-knit music scene, the country offers a very dynamic cosmopolitan cultural environment. “We are excited to present parts of Israel’s rich and fascinating culture during jazzahead!. Israel is a modern, attractive country whose cultural diversity receives too little attention”, say Uli Beckerhoff and Peter Schulze, the artistic directors of jazzahead!.
