Catch Notes Notepad

Summary

I’ve been using AK Notepad for what seems like forever already. Now that AK Notepad can be synched with the online service Catch, I decided to check out the official Catch app. Find out why Catch Notes is giving AK Notepad a run for its money in today’s test.

Catch Notes is a notepad app that offers a lot of note-taking options. Catch Notes lets you create:

• Text notes
• Camera notes
• Gallery notes
• Voice notes
• Reminder notes

As far as all the notes are concerned, you can add reminders to them and geotag the location where the specific notes was taken.

Synching with the Catch online service is the main feature of Catch Notes because it allows you to access your notes from any computer and internet device (including the iPhone and the iPad).

As with any online data synchronization service, it is worth taking a good look at their privacy policy before deciding what types of files you would like to upload to Catch. Personally, I think Catch looks like a trust-worthy and professional website, but some people may have different standards regarding internet security and privacy.

To help sort through your notes, you can attach a tag to any of your notes. Add tags by placing a pound # symbol before the term you wish to tag in a note. Need to create a tag for all your important notes? Then start off your notes likes this: #notes.

In Catch Notes you can have your notes displayed in a single list or according to tags. The more tags you create, the more useful they are in organizing your notes.

You can share your own notes by forwarding the content of your notes or creating a confidential link to the entire note. This means that you have the option of commenting on your own notes. To protect your privacy and security, you can restrict access to your notes by setting up a four digit pass code.

Last but not least, Catch Notes includes a widget that lets you create quick text and camera notes without having to open the app.

In the settings of Catch Notes, you can adjust the app to fit your tastes.

Bottom Line:

Catch Notes is more than just a regular notepad that allows you to sort and tag your notes. Catch Noews can also be used as a checklist, personal agenda, interactive photo album or a voice recorder. That’s the best thing about Catch Notes – it means something different for every user. Given the huge range of options, Catch Notes is guaranteed to fit just about anyone’s needs.
 

 On the Catch Notes start screen, you have access to everything you’ve added to Catch Notes via the My notes and Tags buttons. Underneath these buttons you’ll find the following icons:

• Text note
• Camera note
• Gallery Note
• Voice note
• Reminder note

Using these shortcuts, you can create quick notes on-the-go. If you take a quick camera note, the picture is instantly saved as a note. You are free to edit and change your notes at any point.

Long pressing a note in your list, opens up the following options:

• Edit
• Copy all text
• Set reminder
• Add attachment
• Pin to home screen
• Delete

Once you are inside the note, pressing the menu button lets you:

• Edit
• Share
• Comment
• Delete
• Set reminder

You also always have a set of options available at the top right of your screen:

In order to add notes from other applications (i.e. Twitter, Browser, Mail etc.) to Catch Notes, simply select Catch in your share menu.
 

Bottom Line:

Catch Notes looks stunning visually. Everything is easy to control and fairly self-explanatory. After a little getting used, Catch Notes becomes really straight-forward to use. 

Catch Notes has been installed on my Nexus One for quite some time. No crashes or lags experienced and the speed is amazing!
