Moving map GPS for the price of a dinner!
Air Navigation for Android is a real-time aircraft navigation application with integrated flight planning. Using the GPS receiver (integrated or external) and accelerometers of the Android it can emulate different types of real IFR or VFR aircraft navigation instruments. Using the navigation plan editor, you can prepare and store navigation plans and use them in the cockpit with the moving map.
It contains free maps of the entire world as well as official aviation charts for many countries. The application costs a fraction of the price of a dedicated portable aviation GPS.
Worldwide database
Air Navigation comes fully loaded with worldwide aviation waypoints (more than 160000). The database also contains airspace information for many countries. By using the database and maps, you can quickly plan your route, distance and estimated time of flight.
Real aircraft instrument HSI
Air Navigation imitates real aircraft instrument, gathering information from GPS to create realistic image. With Air Navigation you will not only get a moving map but also realistic images of the instrument HSI.

Can we have mgrs format soon? Nice app specialy to those who want to bring less but functuonal gadgets. Although plotting waypoints is a liitle slow. It will be a great help if there will be an mgrs format that u can plot with.

The old Bait and switch Nothing like going on YouTube to see all the awesome features of this app, just to find out Android gets only a bastardized version. Please don't burn your Android customers. We are pilots too.

Worthless.. Unable to load maps Vizio Tablet... Could not purchase or load maps. Wouldn't allow download of free maps like elevation. Needs tallow user to customize download location. VTAB100B SD card months in a non standard location. Would like a refund.

Getting better. Dev is VERY slowly implementing the features the iOS version has, but it still has a loong way to go to match it. It's the best navigation app for Android nonetheless.

Nice app, great support, missing features Works very nicely for me. Some of the controls are a bit unintuitive, notably switching in and out of route editor mode, but it's fine once you get the hang of it. I used the support and I can't praise them enough. I got a prompt and competent response. What's more, my bug was fixed with a new release within a week (...YMMV, perhaps I was just lucky with the release cycle). My main gripe is that the android app needs to catch up with its iOS cousin. I appreciate that Xample are working on it, but in the meantime they really ought to publicize a comparative feature list for iOS and Android to avoid confusion. Still all a very good app, fully functioning support, well worth the price. Five stars when the feature list catches up with iOS.

Partially unintuitive I am running this app on a Nexus 7 device. While I still miss many features, which I hope will come in the upcoming version, my main problem is that the App is not intuitive (for an Android person) to work with. The best example is route editing / creation. I had to read the manual to finally find out that I need to switch the map into edito mode and then switch to another tab!. On Android one would expect such things in the menu of the respective tab. Another example is that I can only search for waypoints using their identifier. A text search for the name would help as well. Once these usability things have been fixed it certainly will be a great app. Until then I am always switching between VFRNav and this one unfortunately.
