Description
This application for advanced users requires an Archos 43 / 70 / 101 with an rw rooted ROM (search the web for: rw root gen8), but NOT Urukdroid. If you have Urukdroid or a non-rw root, this application will not work--the changes you make will not stick.Buttons for Archos will let you change the width of the buttons on the bottom or right of the screen (or remove them entirely if you wish, by setting the width to zero) as well as to rearrange the contents of the buttons.
You can even add new buttons with contents like "Camera" or "Volume +". These buttons should work, but they will have no icons due to limitations in the OS.
I have reason to think this doesn't work on the latest Gen8 firmware.

Excellent Works fine on Urukdroid 1.6. Works as described, simple, and unobtrusive.

Excellent I agree with the previous comment: on Urukdroid v. 1.5, Archos 70, the settings survive both reboot and power cycle. Give it five stars? Rude not to.

Best option I've found for softbuttons. Archos gen8 users will be aware of how annoying the stock softbuttons can be: covering the right side of third-party keyboards in landscape, taking away screen real estate from games and media players, and making bedside clocks too bright with their illuminated symbols. The alternatives that show/hide a floating button panel, however, are just too tedious or non-discoverable. This lets you slim down the button bar to a usable but unobtrusive 24px or so without disappearing it, which is a great compromise.
