DCSwitch+ uses android's undocumented services to enable/disable the data connection in a clean, mean and concise manner.

The BEST 3G toggle I've used. Instant activate/deactivate. Works like a charm on my Galaxy S. Edit: stopped working after updating to froyo

I think I've tried most of the data/apn widgets and this is my favourite. Nice icon too.
