NOTE: When you put a new birthdate into your contact, the widget does not automatically refresh since it only checks the contact list on every certain interval. if you want to reflect the latest changes, remove and add the widget back to your screen.The DroidGOX Widget: Bday uses the phone's contact list to see any contacts celebrating their birthday on the current day.
The widget updates the list every 12 midnight when the widget is first ran. Every succeeding widget instance will just retrieve the current list of celebrants for that day.
You can then either send a text message, call or email. If either of these has more than 1 entry, a popup window will ask you to choose which one you want to text, call or email.
Navigate the list using the navigation buttons (if there is one or more contact(s).
I know, you might think that I should have used a list instead but I figure it is a miracle I have at least 5 friends in my contacts celebrating the same birthday.
This widget was made for fun so I really did not test this for phones with large screens and even tablets. The widgets may look small but it is still viewable and readable.
Also, I decided not to incorporate a way to import Facebook contacts to the contact list because not everybody in a user's Facebook account is a close friend, right?
