It’s hard to describe a camera app using words. You really have to see it for yourself to get a good understanding of how it works. I’ve added a couple of test pictures to help me illustrate how this app performs. The first picture I took using the normal shooting mode. As you can see, it’s nothing special. The colors are pale and the picture looks really dead.

Normal Mode - I've seen better
Effect Mode
There's a huge variety of different modes available that use filters, borders and effects to give your pictures a little more flavor.

Enhanced Mode - Automatically improves color and contrast

Lomo Cyan: Retro-look

Lomo Cinematic

Commercial: Looks anything but professional!

Normal Shooting Mode
Effect Mode also offers you the following options:
- I’m Feeling Lucky
- Black and White
- Night
- Scenery Mode
Pictures that look like paintings. In scenery mode you can snap pictures using the templates available. You can, for example, take a photo that looks like you painted someone. You can download these templates here for free.

Funny Mode

Surrealist Color Painting
Additional effects included:

- Line Sketch
- Fish Eye
- Ghost

Tilt-Shift Mode

In this mode you can keep some things in focus while leaving the rest blurred. It works both horizontally and vertically. A really classy filter!
The settings for this mode leave you a lot of room to have fun and be creative.
Shift-Color Mode
Here you can make a certain color disappear! Something that could only be done with Photoshop is available on Camera 360.

Shift Color Mode: Focus on the roof

You can get rid of colors using the eyedropper tool
Normal Mode
- Mono – black and white effect
- Negative
- Solarize – Add sunshine
- Sepia – Antique colors
- Posterize
- aqua
It may look nice, but not a single one of these effects worked in normal mode on my HTC Desire – free and paid version alike. If this is just some glitch with my phone, please leave me a comment at the bottom.
Basic functions like flash, shutter delay, focus, night mode and white balance only work in normal mode. Geotagging has become a standard in the industry and is also included with Camera 360.
You can’t use several effects all at once on a single picture or touch up already taken photographs. In the market comments there’s a common theme about Camera 360 depleting the battery. Therefore make sure to close your app with the back button instead of just pressing the home button.
The paid version offers you these extra perks:
- No ads
- Quick navigation via the homescreen
- More effects & updates
Bottom Line:
Camera 360 isn’t quite good enough for the excellent category, but it’s still a lot of fun to use. The effects and filters are obviously the highlight of this app. I would’ve enjoyed seeing a couple of additional functions that would’ve made investing money into the paid version worth my time.
