Here at AndroidPIT, we've finally moved into our new office in Berlin! We've got lots of room and a wonderful view. Aside from the Berlin TV Tower, we see one plane after the other fly by our window everyday on their way to and from the airport. One plane after the other lands on the tarmac at the airport with amazing precision. You start wondering how so many planes can fly around safely in such a small area. How can hundreds of planes land on the airport tarmac with such amazing precision day in and day out?
It’s all thanks to our good old air traffic control keeping an eye out there for us, making sure every take-off and landing goes smoothly.
With Flying Aces Lite you're the one up in the control tower preventing any possible collisions.
Find out what the game is really like in our complete test report.
The goal of the game is to safely land as many planes as possible without having them crash into each other.
You can select from the following difficulty levels for Flying Aces Lite:
In the pro-version there are even more levels, but I'll leave that out for another time. During the test, I played the game on "normal" and even that was a challenge. You've got to have good concentration skills to land all those planes safely.
You've got several different airplane types:
Jets land on the long landing strip, propeller planes land on the small strip, and helicopters need to be directed onto the big "H". Using your finger you draw out a safe flight path for every aircraft in the air. Each aircraft then sticks to its flight path. The aircraft disappears from the screen as soon as it lands, letting you concentrate on all the other flying objects.
Since every aircraft is flying at a different speed, it's crucial that you keep your eyes peeled. Even the smallest distraction can lead to a catastrophe.
You can aim for the following "achievements":
Bottom Line:
A quick glance at the list of achievements shows you just how difficult this game can be. You've got to keep your eyes on the screen and be able to navigate several aircrafts simultaneously. Your plane gets automatically re-directed when it bumps against the edge of the screen.
Personally, I had a ton of fun playing this game! I don't know if it makes sense to get the full-version at all since the lite-version is already hard enough. I'm definitely going to need a lot more time to collect all the available achievements.
First off, you can't play this game without an internet connection. And that's with a game that can't be played online anyway. How ridiculous is that? I mean, seriously, what is up with that? Without an internet connection you're left starring at an empty black screen. WTF?!
The graphics on Flying Aces Lite are really well-done. Nothing spectacular, but still very catchy.
As mentioned above, you control your planes with your finger. The planes follow the flight path as outlined by your finger. The controls work most of the type, but using your finger can be pretty inaccurate at times, leading to crashes in the air. Frustrating!
Despite some problems, the controls are generally speaking fairly good. If only the airplanes wouldn't spin around every time you assign them a new flight path, I would've rated the controls with four stars.
Flying Aces Lite runs fast and crash-free.
Flying Aces Lite can be downloaded for free from the Android Market. A whole lot of fun - and all of it for free!

I played the game offline without any problems.....So I don't know what the problem was during the test....I didn't see a black screen or anything. Anyone else have problems?
