NoiseAlert - Satisfy Your Inner Spy
Tested version: 1.0.1
Latest version: 1.0.1
Requires Android: from 1.1
Summary
I’m sure that most of us have, at one point or another, wished we could listen in on something going on next door. Of course, most of us don’t feel like going through the effort of actually purchasing a complicated bugging device. But aren’t you just curious to see what your significant other is up to while you’re away? Spying aside, maybe you just want to make sure your baby is safe and sound in his crib. NoiseAlert is perfect for any of these purposes. After downloading and activating the app on your mobile, you can simply “accidentally” leave your phone lying around in the room you’d like to monitor
Features & Use
The concept is simple, yet convincing and almost genius. That’s why NoiseAlert deserves a full five stars from us.
As soon as a certain manually adjustable noise level is reached, your Android phone automatically dials and connects to a number of your choosing. The receiver can then listen in on what’s happening on the other end of the connection. That’s all this app is designed to do, but that’s enough to satisfy our curiosity.
Aside from that, there are a few different settings:
- Alert Phone Number Selection
- Sound Threshold Adjustment
- Sleep Interval Set-Up
You can also press a panic button to make an immediate call and double-check your noise sensibility with the test button.
Screen & Controls
NoiseAlert’s screen design is really simple, maybe even a little too simple. A more pleasing and better looking interface could’ve made this app more attractive to users. This lack of elegance doesn’t, however, affect the effectiveness of this app. Other than that, NoiseAlert is extremely easy to use. The few settings that it has are self-explanatory and clearly labeled.
Speed & Stability
NoiseAlert made it through our rigorous test without any crashes or errors. The app was always responsive and reliable. It should be mentioned that the app would only initiate a call if the sound threshold was exceeded for a prolonged time. Now, we’re not sure whether that was the developer’s explicit intention. In any case, the app worked perfectly and never failed to call.
Price/Performance Ratio
NoiseAlert can be downloaded for free from the Android Market
