Summary

Efficiency nuts: be warned! I think I’ve just come across an amazing app for you!

The thing is that there are apps, contacts and bookmarks you use at home and others that you need when you’re at work. Or maybe you have different activities that require a different set of apps, contacts etc. Are you tired of having to dig through your phone to find what you’re looking for?
This is exactly where FolderOrganizer can come in handy; it gives you quick access to programs that you need. Want to know how it works? Find out in our test.

Features & Use

Section rating:

FolderOrganizer helps you quickly access the most important items on your phone: programs, apps, or contacts.
This is done with the help of specific labels. In other words, you can organize your phone’s content according to certain labels.

FolderOrganizer has following default labels:

  • Android
  • Games
  • Internet
  • Multimedia
  • Notification
  • Tools

Obviously, you are free to add any labels of your own like work, at home, hobby and so on. Here’s a quick example: You’d like to download some new apps to your phone. You’ve already set up an “Apps” label, which includes the AndroidPIT app, the Market, and the Barcode Scanner. Now you can simply add a shortcut for this label to your home screen. All it takes is one click to go directly to the app you need!

If you don’t wish to add shortcuts for every label, you can also add different labels to your start menu. You can then filter out your favorites on the menu screen. This makes sense if you have a large amount of different programs and contacts.

FolgerOrganizer isn’t just about labels. Using FolderOrganizer you can manage your programs in many different ways:

  • Start
  • Uninstall
  • Rename
  • Change icon

In the main menu, located on your status bar, you can also see your most contacted contacts next to your labels.

Bottom Line:

This app is really golden! Looks so simple, yet can do so much. Once you’ve mastered the labeling system (similar to the one from Gmail and many others), you can quickly and efficiently organize your phone to fit your personal needs.
To top it all off, you can personalize your icons, start programs, delete apps – all using FolderOrganizer!
You couldn’t wish for anything more, really. Five stars – no question about it!

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

There have been similar apps available to solve your organization problems. Yet none of them managed to look as well-conceived and structured as FolderOrganizer. Almost 100% of all functions are done through the touch screen.
You can access the usual stuff via the menu button: import and export, create a new label, and adjust some settings.
The app could perhaps use a better-looking user interface. Some of the icons are a bit too massive (e.g. contacts) and the heading bar could be a little more graphically “pimped out”. Not too big of a deal, but these drawbacks account for the lack of a five star rating.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

The app runs well and is very reliable. No crashes or program errors experienced.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

The app is available from the Market for €0.99. There’s also a free version available with ads. Totally worth the 99 cents, though.

Ok.. tried app.. worked like it states.. but personally I prefer to just use the folder option that came with my Eris. The main advantage is that I can leave the folder open and still scroll though my other screens.. then return to still find my folder still open.. on this app I had to close out of folder first which was a deal breaker for me.

  • Love this one. I had tried the demo, and within a week, picked up the paid app. I especially love changing the icons to match my wallpaper. Right now, my folders are disguised as satellites orbiting the moon. I only wish there were font setting options. Still deserves 4.8 in my book, though.

Seriously needs refresh Used to be a great app. Now just crashes a lot. I have since moved to another paid app called "Application Folder Pro" & so far so good - has more options & visually more polished. I wish the dev here well & hope his planned overhaul of this app is coming soon, I'll be back to check it out when that happens.

Crashes non stop Every time I tap a widget, I get something in the notification area telling me the app crashed, please send us details. It's BS.

Applying Icon packs There are not too many choices for folder apps. This one is about the best that's out there. For those of you who are rooted and apply icon packs only to find the icons in your folders don't get updated, I finally found a way to fix it. Find the app here called Icon Themer. It requires you install the xposed framework. Read the description and follow the link to xda. Nandroid backup before is a good idea too. I found this hiding in the dev's forum on his website. Nexus 4 & 7.

Moving at a snail's pace... The app has huuuge potential. It seems like it's getting better and better with each update. Unfortunately, these updates are few and far in between. I love the new feature of being able to apply an icon pack to all icons simultaneously. Well, if it worked that is. For some reason, I can't get this to work for the life of me. Please fix it!!!

Widgets keep disappearing! I would spend time creating my widgets on the desktop only to have them seemingly arbitrarily disappear. I rebuilt several times but it kept happening. Now, I keep getting messages that Folder Organizer isn't responding. Well, so much for this app.

Waste of money! This app has become boring and pointless most features can be found on new phones. it is pointless to purchase this app.

New update broke app Used to work fine. Now icons and folder text don't display anymore. SO ARE YOU GOING TO FIX IT OR IGNORE ALL THE COMPLAINTS???

Update BLOWS! I'm sick of having to re-do my menus OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN!

App is broken Just reinstalled and app is broken, just started causing screen to flash when in options. Very poor used to be really good. Back to uninstalling

Desktop full of default folders Since the last update my home page is now full of default icons. Can't tell what's what! Some basic testing of the update might have been an idea! Not the first time I've had issues after an update of this app. Even if I try to re apply the icons it still doesn't work..
A Google User, May 29, 2013
Was Awesome! Updated again and folder icons and labels still not showing with new update. Please fix! None of the updates in the past year have worked properly. The folder names and icons disappear after updating and you have to delete the folder and then add it again to get full functionality. I could understand if this were the first update that didn't work but it's at least the 6th or 7th. Have tried emailing the dev and no response. If the goal was to make an app that didn't work then well done!

Paid for Junk Was working great for 4 months. Woke up after a version update and all of my folder icons changed to the default folder and the folder names changed to Label Folder. Really disappointing. Under the settings for each folder, it seems the name and label choice are saved but the actual widget or home screen folder remains broken. UPDATE: Happened again. Only recourse is to completely rebuild entire desktop. Junk.

Used to be a great service... The last update removed all my folder icons from my home screen(s), both on my S3 and Tab2.0. Reboots have not corrected the issue. Fix this and I'll gladly rate this with 5-stars again.

Great app ruined by latest update I've used this app for over 2 years and have considered it a MUST HAVE... until this last update ruined it. Heavily considering uninstalling it.
