Summary

Efficiency nuts: be warned! I think I’ve just come across an amazing app for you!

The thing is that there are apps, contacts and bookmarks you use at home and others that you need when you’re at work. Or maybe you have different activities that require a different set of apps, contacts etc. Are you tired of having to dig through your phone to find what you’re looking for?
This is exactly where FolderOrganizer can come in handy; it gives you quick access to programs that you need. Want to know how it works? Find out in our test.

Features & Use

Section rating:

FolderOrganizer helps you quickly access the most important items on your phone: programs, apps, or contacts.
This is done with the help of specific labels. In other words, you can organize your phone’s content according to certain labels.

FolderOrganizer has following default labels:

  • Android
  • Games
  • Internet
  • Multimedia
  • Notification
  • Tools

Obviously, you are free to add any labels of your own like work, at home, hobby and so on. Here’s a quick example: You’d like to download some new apps to your phone. You’ve already set up an “Apps” label, which includes the AndroidPIT app, the Market, and the Barcode Scanner. Now you can simply add a shortcut for this label to your home screen. All it takes is one click to go directly to the app you need!

If you don’t wish to add shortcuts for every label, you can also add different labels to your start menu. You can then filter out your favorites on the menu screen. This makes sense if you have a large amount of different programs and contacts.

FolgerOrganizer isn’t just about labels. Using FolderOrganizer you can manage your programs in many different ways:

  • Start
  • Uninstall
  • Rename
  • Change icon

In the main menu, located on your status bar, you can also see your most contacted contacts next to your labels.

Bottom Line:

This app is really golden! Looks so simple, yet can do so much. Once you’ve mastered the labeling system (similar to the one from Gmail and many others), you can quickly and efficiently organize your phone to fit your personal needs.
To top it all off, you can personalize your icons, start programs, delete apps – all using FolderOrganizer!
You couldn’t wish for anything more, really. Five stars – no question about it!

Screen & Controls

Section rating:

There have been similar apps available to solve your organization problems. Yet none of them managed to look as well-conceived and structured as FolderOrganizer. Almost 100% of all functions are done through the touch screen.
You can access the usual stuff via the menu button: import and export, create a new label, and adjust some settings.
The app could perhaps use a better-looking user interface. Some of the icons are a bit too massive (e.g. contacts) and the heading bar could be a little more graphically “pimped out”. Not too big of a deal, but these drawbacks account for the lack of a five star rating.

Speed & Stability

Section rating:

The app runs well and is very reliable. No crashes or program errors experienced.

Price/Performance Ratio

Section rating:

The app is available from the Market for €0.99. There’s also a free version available with ads. Totally worth the 99 cents, though.

Ok.. tried app.. worked like it states.. but personally I prefer to just use the folder option that came with my Eris. The main advantage is that I can leave the folder open and still scroll though my other screens.. then return to still find my folder still open.. on this app I had to close out of folder first which was a deal breaker for me.

Love this one. I had tried the demo, and within a week, picked up the paid app. I especially love changing the icons to match my wallpaper. Right now, my folders are disguised as satellites orbiting the moon. I only wish there were font setting options. Still deserves 4.8 in my book, though.

Buggy Crashes all day with Jelly Bean 4.1 while running google maps. I don't want to lose this app, please fix.

Bugs Menus are missing, no delete option for categories? This app used to be good but now it's basically unless since I have to clear ALL data just to change something like an icon

Seriously needs refresh Used to be a great app. Now just crashes a lot. I have since moved to another paid app called "Application Folder Pro" & so far so good - has more options & visually more polished. I wish the dev here well & hope his planned overhaul of this app is coming soon, I'll be back to check it out when that happens.

If only If I could set the colour when you select an app instead of the default orange it would be perfect and 5 stars
A Google User, Apr 25, 2013
Could easily be 5 stars! I have been using this app for almost a year. It has allowed me to minimize the number of icons on my home screens, and group them by function, giving a very esthetically pleasing and useful, result. I completely cleared 2 of the 5 home screens on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, though I have about 400 apps within Folder Organizer. However, the last couple of updates of Folder Organizer have introduced frequent crashes of the app (several per day), and more seriously, the font size on apps within folders has become too small for my vision.

Used to be a good application, but not now, it only sees about 80 percent of apps, no response from dev, error after error on my brand new HTC ONE Used to be a good application, but not now, it only sees about 80 percent of apps, no response from dev, error after error on my brand new HTC

What happened? Had given 5 stars, now 3 because although the app is still functioning, I get constant errors and no response from developer. So sad! I want my old version of Folder Organizer back that worked perfectly! Old review: My 100+ apps, bookmarks, & shortcuts are sooooo organized and the backup worked when I had to restore my phone. Everything is back in order!

Update just crashed it Lost my customized folder icons and labels. UPDATE: You can remove the app, download version 3.6.4 from the web and you'll be good to go. Of course you'll have to set everything up again but it's worth it.

Also Buggy for Me Same bug for myself. It at least kept the default icons. But for some reason you cannot use the folder config settings to change it to what I previous setup. Hope a solution is in the works.

NO RESPONSE! I emailed this"human beung 2×,NO RESPONSE!Used to have respect & LOVE this app but will NOT PURCHASE OVER & OVER &.....

Fantastic App. Here's work-around for recent bug. Extremely useful app with a recent & presumably very temporary bug. BUG WORKAROUND: If you're losing the custom names and/or icons after a reboot, open each folder to see its name in the title bar, close the folder & remove it from your homescreen, then re-add it to your homescreen. It will retain the contents & restore the name/icon. Time consuming, & hoprfully the dev will fix soon. Anybody have a quicker work-around?

Works Perfect! Couldn't ask for a better app for the purpose.

Uninstall problems When I uninstall an app, Folder Organizer doesn't recognize it as uninstalled and continues to leave list it in my folders.
A Google User, Mar 25, 2013
Great but.. I can't change the widgets theme. And is it possible to get rid of that orange frame whenever you start an app out of a folder? Any help? Otherwise a great app!!
A Google User, Mar 25, 2013
Gs3 - icons gone Icons are gone after phone restart. Happened 3-4 times in last 6 months, very annoying!
A Google User, Mar 23, 2013
Icons Great for NY large amount of apps. But icons are not centered on my HTC EVO 4g LTE Home.
A Google User, Mar 22, 2013
Really great but a little slow at times. I've been with FO since the beginning. No other app gets near what this app offers in term of organising your apps. The great advantage is its ability to launch folders as a shortcut.I've got used to the new interface which is more standard android. I have two issues which are long standing that I've been looking to the updates to address. Firstly even on very fast devices the folders can be slow to load. Also I've wished for folder background images and more modern graphics for a long time.

Was Great - Suddenly Problems Was working great for 4 months. Woke up after a version update and all of my folder icons changed to the default folder and the folder names changed to Label Folder. Really disappointing. Under the settings for each folder, it seems the name and label choice are saved but the actual widget or home screen folder remains broken.
